English Teachers in Korea

South Korea ( officially the Republic of Korea) or just Korea, has one of the best pay rates in Asia. This is due to the fact that the Korean Ministry of Education has been sponsoring the English Programs for over 20 years.

The government places over 1,000 teachers in ESL jobs every year. In other words there is a great need for English teachers in South Korea.

Applicants have several options( EPIK, GEPIK, SMOE, TaLK :

  • EPIK meaning – English Program in Korea

  • GEPIK meaning – Gyeonggi English Program In Korea

  • SMOE meaning – Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education

  • TaLK meaning  – Teach and Learn in Korea

Korea is a Great Place to Start

Korea like Japan is a great place for recent graduates to start. This is due to the fact that new teachers are trained before they are eased into the Korean school system.

Korea is More than Teaching English

Korea is also a very beautiful country with a rich history and culture. Koreans are very proud of their culture but they have also adopted many westernized things including churches.

When I visited 2015 I was very much surprised by the sights and lifestyle that was on display. Korea is absolutely gorgeous and I can say it is the place where I saw the most luxury cars per capita ( and I have been to Las Vegas, New York, and Miami). So don’t allow the fear of uncertainty to stop you from applying to teach in South Korea.
